Monument Valley and Gran Canyon

Today we are opening the post with a picture, because
describing with words what we saw today, is impossible.
Let’s the pictures speak for us. We just add some
comments.

The sun is big in the sky, no clouds, the car window is
rolled down, arm out and music. The car is riding the
Highway 163. We are arriving to the Monument Valley at 11
am, and the show starts!

We take a look to the maps for not wasting time around the
valley. By the way we see some wild dogs, most of them are
just puppies, gorgeous, we took some pictures.

We arrived at “visitor center”, we get out of the car
and climb a little stair……….and the view in front of
us is magic!
We stay there for half hour to talk, dream and take a bunch
of pictures.

A lot of thoughts are for Ric, and how much he wish be here,
and how much we wish him here. After we think that this
mountains are here from thousand of years and they won’t
go anyway, so maybe we will be here again, together.

From here the Navajos can take you for a loop around the
valley, with a jeep, bus on riding an horse if you want. But
we are not made for this kind of things, and so we come back
to the car, and we go into the valley by ourselves…..

It is incredible how the nature could have done something
like this, all the rocks seam draw by somebody, also the
smallest details are perfects. It look like we are in giant
land, and this rocks are thrones…..
We wish stay here all day long, and waiting for the sunset,
they say it is amazing, but we have to go, so we set the
navigator and we come back on the road…

After 200 km the land is completely different, we enter in a
wood. We pass through a mountain, with little roads. By the
way there are a lot of families doing pick nick. We go up
for the mountain till 2.267 m, and here there is the enter
for the Big Canyon National Park.

They charge us 25 bucks for the enter, and we drive slow
till the first point of view, the Desert View………WOW!
The earth is opened, for miles and miles and in front of the
Big Canyon we are breadless.

Some numbers the Big Canyon is long 446 Km, 1.600 m deep,
and wide from 500 m to 27 km.
On the bottom there is the Colorado river, it looks a
stream.
There are a lot points of view, we just stop to few of them,
and all are amazing.

As we wrote from the beginning, there are not words for
describing this, we are glad to came here.
Of course we should stay more for seeing everything. Here
there is the change to sleep in a tend, riding the Colorado
river with a canoe…..but our time table is really tight
and we have still a lot of roads to ride…..
