Route 66 and St. Louis

The Ruote 66, is one of the first federal highway. It was
opened November 11th, 1926. At the very beginning, it joined
Chicago to Santa Monica, through Illinois, Missouri, Kansas,
Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona e California. It is
3.800 Km long.
The Route 66 was made for the migration to the West, and it
supported the economy of the cities on it. In the 1985 it
was replaced by the Intersate Higway. This street is still
open whit the name of “Historic Route 66” and it is not
entire drivable.
With the time, this road is begun a symbol for the “people
on the road”, and is pretty famous in movies, song and so
on.

After seeing the road’s beginning, we drove on it, and
stopped at Hall of Fame & Museum, at 110 of W Howard St. in
Pontia-Illinois.
A really nice old woman, brought us and showed the most
precious things in the Museu,. When she was telling us old
stories, her voice was full of proud, and she was almost
crying.
Later we continued for our way, the road is really old, and
not so easy to follow, our navigator system could not help
us neither, so we used the signs.
After 280 Km, we arrived at St Louis, in Missuri, we have
been there just for a couple of hours, just in time to see
the city’s symbol the Geteway Ach, an huge arch 192 m
high, on the Missuri river.
So, we started again to our next stop, Cansas City.
